Gas Sensor Module – MQ-7 (Carbon Monoxide)

The MQ-7 is a gas sensor module used for detecting carbon monoxide (CO) in the air. It features a sensitive SnO2-based sensing element and offers both analog and digital output. The sensor is known for its high sensitivity to CO while maintaining low sensitivity to alcohol and other gases, making it ideal for CO leak detection.

Key Features:

  • Sensor Type: Semiconductor (SnO2-based)
  • Target Gas: Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  • Operating Voltage: 5V DC
  • Analog Output: 0–5V proportional to gas concentration
  • Digital Output: TTL signal via onboard comparator
  • Detection Range: 20 – 2000 ppm (CO)
  • Preheat Time: ~60 seconds
  • Heater Cycle: Requires cyclic heating: 1.4V (60s) then 5.0V (90s)

Applications:

  • Carbon monoxide detection in home and industrial environments
  • Air quality monitoring systems
  • Microcontroller-based gas warning systems
  • Portable CO detection devices
